Ceramic properties of kaolinitic clay with monoaluminum phosphate (Al(H2PO4)3) addition

The effect of monoaluminum phosphate (Al(H2PO4)3) addition in the thermochemical process a kaolinitic clay was studied and compared with pure clay. Monoaluminum incorporation is technological interest for widely use this material as an effective binder. From point view important to clarify processing strategy clay-MAP based ceramics. This work comprised characteristics obtained ceramics using differential thermal analysis, thermogravimetric analysis (TG), dilatometric X-ray powder diffraction Rietveld refinement, mechanical resistance textural properties. MAP did not affect temperature kaolinite dehydroxilation (600–500 °C) but reduced transformation it observed TG curve. amount mullite decreased cristobalite formation stimulated presence samples fired at 1400 °C. Mullite cell parameters were modified. present study gives information further clay-based materials designed MAP. It can be concluded that low percentages potential formulation would imply changes macroscopic properties these type ceramic materials.
